About the Artist
Hi, I’m Theresa, a self-taught and freelance PRO makeup artist and hair stylist with over 10 years of experience. I’ve had great success in my career since August 2020, leading me to work full-time in the beauty industry. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients for big events, weddings, commercial shoots, and runway shows.
I’ve always had a deep love for the beauty world, and it’s been a passion of mine to transform and enhance people’s beauty. Growing up, I admired the creativity-driven women in my family who used beauty as their self-care and love language. However, societal restrictions and pressures led me to pursue a traditional path of studying hard and getting a university degree. I wanted to make my parents proud and be the first in my family to graduate. So, I put my creative side on hold for four years and graduated with a degree in events management.
After graduating, I expected a corporate job to fulfill me and create the life I wanted, but I found myself struggling even more. Feeling exhausted and unfulfilled, I decided to take a break and get back into the beauty industry part-time while working in retail management. Eventually, I felt the urge to move and seek new opportunities on the Gold Coast. It was a challenging transition, especially with minimal connections and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. I faced depression and struggled to build a new clientele while working in retail.
During this difficult time, I had the opportunity to work as a marketing assistant, even though it wasn’t my initial interest. This setback pushed me to focus on self-development and rediscover my passions. I started to feel wholesome again as I pursued my love for hairstyling and improved my makeup skills.
Now, I’ve accomplished goals like magazine publications, commercial shoots, runway events, and recognition from my favourite artists. I’m truly living my authentic life, working with amazing clients and being part of unforgettable events. I’m excited to continue building my career and meeting more incredible people along the way.
